I note that there are several reviews on this device that are pretty spot on. The reviews for the 1490 apply but less the bluetooth on the Garmin 1450 – all else is the same.
HUGE PLUSSES: Lifetime Maps and Traffic, Mac compatible (with full suite of software available to download), able to transfer routes and addresses from Google Maps directly to the device when connected to computer, additional maps for purchase for loading to external micro SD memory card.
This device was purchased for my travels since we always rent cars at our destinations and device rental can be around $50/day depending where we go. I LOVE having Garmin 1450 preloaded with all the hotel addresses (thank you Google Maps) as well as specific routes we want to take when roaming the countryside in Europe (again, thank you Google Maps). I did purchase the Europe map as additional which loaded right onto a memory card (DON’T DELETE IT since this is the only copy allowed). The Garmin plugs right into my Mac and accepts everything I import from Google Maps so I am very excited to use it on my upcoming trip.
I purchased this after purchasing and returning a Mag*****, which does not support Mac in any manner (a little behind the times?). After that experience, I thought I was to expect little to nothing from my GPS device, but then along came Garmin. The user interface of garmin 1450 is excellent and the computer integration is just amazing! For either of the two main OS’es, this device is excellent!
